In school, you learned about William Wilberforce, Harriet Tubman, and Abraham Lincoln--the great symbols of freedom for all.

But did you know that more slaves exist in our time than existed at any other point in history?

Just how many slaves is that?

                                                    27 million.

You read that sentence right. 27 million slaves are crying out for freedom in our world. Many of those slaves are entrapped in the sex trade, and many of them are innocent women and children.

It is reality, and it is a horrible reality. Doesn't such a horror beg for action on the part of those who have been freed and have gained everything through Christ?

But what is a college student to do?

That is the question that the Grace College chapter of Destiny Rescue is asking. As a group committed to freeing those entrapped in prostitution, Destiny Rescue seeks to inform, pray, advocate, and raise funds for those in sex slavery.

SPECIAL NOTE FROM RYAN PRICE: After talking it over with our contact from Destiny Rescue, we decided that this Mosaic team could best serve Destiny Rescue by providing them with volunteers on a consistent schedule. What this means is that instead of meeting here at Grace once a month, we will now be meeting twice a month at the Destiny Rescue office in Syracuse (about 25 mins away) at 6:00pm on Thursday nights. This will allow us to help Destiny Rescue in practical ways on a regular basis, and relieve some of the burden on their paid staff. You will also get to meet and talk to Destiny Rescue staff who are dedicating their everyday lives to stop child sex-trafficking. (They all have great stories to tell!)

You don't need to feel pressure to go to every meeting. Our goal is to provide you guys with as many opportunities for service as possible, and empower you to get as involved as you want. At these meetings we may be doing anything from helping them remodel the office, to tagging jewelry, to folding brochures. We are essentially giving them our time for 1-2 hours every other week to help them with anything they need us to do.
